Quik Internet has recently added a virus sanitizer to security measures. An email virus is really just a normal email with code to execute an attachment. What our virus sanitizer does is rename all executable (anything executable is a potential virus) attachments, dynamically. For instance, if someone emailed you my-program.exe as an attachment, it would still be delivered to you, but the attachment would now be called something like my-program.DEFANGED12345DEFANGED-exe. If you decide that you do want to run this program, save it to disk as normal. Then, locate it on your disk and rename it a proper name (take out DEFANGED12345DEFANGED- so that it now reads my-program.exe again). Setting up the virus sanitizer is easy and you can do it all yourself. Just log into Member Information with your username and password and click on the "Email" link. Then, click on "Email Virus Sanitizer". Once the page has loaded, click "Setup an email virus sanitizer". Unless you really understand the next prompt, just click "Submit". Your virus sanitizer should take effect shortly. |
